DC Reserved Practice Permit applications for licensed DCs in Nova Scotia

Summary of Requirements for Reserved Practice Permits:

Licensed Chiropractors in Nova Scotia who wish to practice in a DC Reserved Practice area must meet all educational, training and examination criteria as outlined in the corresponding NSCNR Standard of Practice.

A licensed Chiropractor in Nova Scotia holding a DC Reserved Practice Permit in any area must comply with specific requirements outlined in the applicable standard of practice related to professional practice, professional liability insurance, record keeping, continued competency experience and continued education in order to maintain the Reserved Practice Permit and qualify for renewal of their Permit.

A DC Reserved Practice Permit will be issued to the registrant by NSCNR once all permit criteria have been satisfied.

Applying for a Reserved Practice Permit:

You must be an actively licensed DC Registrant of the NSCNR to apply for a DC Reserved Practice Permit. If you are not yet registered and licensed in Nova Scotia, please refer to the menu tab the corresponds to your registration situation.

DC Registrants can apply for a Reserved Practice Permit by logging into your registrant profile and choosing the appropriate option.

  • NSCNR DC Reserved Practice Permit: Acupuncture/Dry Needling
  • NSCNR DC Reserved Practice Permit: Animal Chiropractic

Please note that any change in status of your license or failure to comply with the corresponding Standard of Practice may result in immediate revocation of a Reserved Practice Permit.

Renewing a Reserved Practice Permit:

To renew your Reserved Practice Permit, please enter all required documentation in your Registrant profile. It is the responsibility of the Registrant to ensure all requirements are met in advance of the renewal deadline.

Renewal of all Reserved Practice Permits is annual at the time of license renewal.

Failure to renew a Reserved Practice Permit will result in immediate revocation of the permit.

In extenuating circumstances, requests for short extensions to areas of compliance may be granted by the Registrar with advanced review.
