Laws & Standards

Chiropractors in Nova Scotia have been regulated since 1972 and Naturopathic doctors were added in 2026. This means the professions are governed by the Regulated Health Professions Act (2023) and all associated regulations.  The Nova Scotia Chiropractic and Naturopathic Regulator (NSCNR) is established to determine who are qualified to practice in these professions in Nova Scotia. Registration requires specific training, examination and competency standards are met.

Once registered to practice, the NSCNR continues its regulatory role by enforcing a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Ongoing competency is monitored with mandatory continued training as well as regular practice reviews. In cases where concerns of conduct arise, complaint investigation and discipline are also the role of the regulator.

Please refer to the legislation, regulations, code of ethics, standards of practice and policies governing the practices of all Chiropractic and Naturopathic professionals in Nova Scotia. All registrants must follow these “rules” in order to retain licensure to practice.
