It is essential for all applicants and registrants of the NSCNR, to be familiar with and understand the legislation, regulations and standards of practice that govern the chiropractic and naturopathic professions in Nova Scotia. The Jurisprudence/ethics examination includes material on current government legislation, regulations, standards of practice, and additional information which is relevant to practice requirements in Nova Scotia.

All applicants must complete and pass the NSCNR Jurisprudence/Ethics exam.  The examination is administered online, is timed (two hours in length) and is open book. The pass rate required for successful completion is 80%.  Applicants will receive their results within 1 business day of the completed exam.

The link to study material will be sent to candidates upon receipt of their completed application. Candidates may use the examination material as a resource during the taking of the examination. If a candidate is unsuccessful at passing the examination, they will be given an opportunity to write a supplemental examination.  A candidate is given as many opportunities as required to successfully pass the examination (additional exam fees will apply).

An exam fee of $150.00 is required by all new graduates and international applicants, and is payable prior to taking the exam.

Exam fees are not collected from registrants currently licensed in another Canadian jurisdiction(s) who are relocating to Nova Scotia (as per the Patient Access to Care Act, NS).

The exam will be administered on an individual per applicant basis. The link to the exam with instructions will be provided once all required application documents have been received and accepted by the Registrar and all applicable fees have been paid.
